Yoni Silver
About the show:
At MusraraSonics, Yoni Silver will play an amplified bass-clarinet set.
About the artist:
Yoni Silver is a bass clarinet musician, whose unique instrumental style lends itself to multilayered sound worlds, channeling subterranean sounds and cryptozoological voices, and assembling them into a jumbled polyphonic audial mass. His playing techniques draw on his experience as an improvisor musician in Israel and in London, from the hyperspectral music of Romanian composers Ana-Maria Avram and Iancu Dumitrescu, with whom he has collaborated in the “Hyperion Ensemble”, and from the animal and screeching kingdoms.
He has played and collaborated with musicians such as Charles Hayward, Ashley Paul, John Butcher, Angharad Davies, John Edwards, Catherine Lamb, Thurston Moore, Toshimaru Nakamura, Steve Noble, Evan Parker, and Birgit Ulher, among others.
Besides his work as an instrumentalist, Silver is a composer and arranger, sound designer and musical coach, who has worked with Shlomi Shaban and the Israeli Philharmonic, filmmakers like Avi Mugrabi, many multidisciplinary artists like Ariel Afraim and Alona Rodeh, visual and media artists like Naama Shender and Gilad Ratman, and with groups like the “Israel Contemporary Players Ensemble21”, and “Nico Tin”, to name a few.
