Ṭarab

In the show “Ṭarab,” Maqam Music Ensemble will perform a collaborative piece composed as a musical medley, based on the maqām system and the rhythms of classical Arabic music.

With the desire to form a bridge between the musicians, the melodies, and the audience, throughout the show the Ensemble will explore the notion of “Ṭarab” – a trans-like state of ecstasy that both performers and audience reach during the musical experience.
