Chamber and Defiance

Musrara Modern Ensemble of is an instrumental ensemble of contemporary music, specializing in canonical musical works from the 2nd half of the 20th century and the 21st century. 

The ensemble is proud to open Musrara Mix 2025 with a tribute to the legendary filmmaker David Lynch, who passed away earlier this year. Music has always stood at the heart of Lynch’s creative instincts. Alongside two solo albums, Lynch left fragments, clues, traces, and many mysteries in the soundtracks of his films – some esoteric, some significant, but all influential. In “Chamber and Defiance,” the ensemble presents a contemporary reading of the enigmatic musical world of Lynch, alongside other musicians, through tributes, quotation, invention, deconstruction, and assembly, balancing the improvised with the predetermined.
