THE PASSING OF TIME
Video by Tamar Hirschfeld

Nostalgic desertscapes throb and disappear, and a new desert horizon emerges in their place, different yet similar. Tamar Hirschfeld’s video work is a “Fata Morgana”: a mirage conjured by the journey’s hallucinations.
Time and again, the screen burns as the fire gradually leads the viewer from the two-dimensionality of the journal paper to the boundless depths of the desert. In her work, Hirschfeld reveals the fundamental human need to situate oneself, to repeatedly measure where we are in the face of eternity.
