Wandering Ghosts

Every person has a name. Every name is a number. Every number is a frequency. Every frequency is a sound.

The purest sound in the entire universe is a sine wave. Sine waves at different frequencies form different harmonies at any given moment, creating a different resonance, a vibration.

Daniel Meir’s “Wandering Ghosts” comprises 16 horn speakers, presenting the viewer with a powerful PA system that transmits a signal into an unknown destination. The signal is cast afar, its source as well as its destination obscure. The changing sound sequence oscillates between soft and meditative to restless. This project draws on concepts from the world of sonic warfare, walking the line between the aspiration to establish direct communication and the resonance of a message sent into the distance.
