Dead Horsman

An operatic piece starring a headless horseman and a horse. Musician and artist Zohar Shafir animates the two characters, engaged in an imaginary dialogue between life and death. Although the characters are treated as one entity, the show takes place simultaneously in two separate locations. One space is chaotic and theatrical, packed with sculptural objects where the black horse and its headless rider ramble amid the clutter. The second space, at the end of the corridor, is a small, cramped living room with a seating area, to which the sound and images from the performance space are transmitted, ghosts mediated through technology. The piece contemplates the possibility of detachment and split between different bodies, between object and sound, and between matter and spirit.
